Investing?? I was in the States as an international student. Since i have completed my studies i have come back to my home country. What i want to ask is, can i still invest in Bonds, Equity, CD's, etc...through my bank a/c, which is active. I will not be investing more than $5000. I do have a Social Security Numer and a active checking a/c(which i had opened up while my stay over there), and now even plan on opening up a savings a/c with the same bank. Would i be able to do that(invest) without any problems? Like from immigration office or the govt. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.

What is the best book to learn about investing in stocks? I have a lot of money invested in a 401k account through JPMorgan, this is for my retirement so it means a great deal to me. What is the best real estate investing business structure? All the investing literature I have read say to protect yourself from liability and taxes. I know there are LLC and Corp (S and C) which provide these benefits. The investing literature also says to use the banks money to leverage your investing (OPM). Where is the best place to get information about investing in foreign currencies? I have been looking at investing in some foreign currencies (1 in particular), but would like to find out as much as I can before working out whether this would be a good investment or not. Where is the best place to find this sort of information? I was planning on buying it now while their currency market is in all sorts of disarray and then sitting on it until sometime in the future where (hopefully) the country has sorted itself out and the market has stabalised. I am not looking to make a quick buck as I know that in this case it will take quite a while to see any chance of selling for a profit, but plan to be in this for the long game...

How can I get my fiance to discuss finances and investing before we get married? I have always been responsible with money. I have a good amt of emergency savings, an excellent credit score, and started investing for retirement and long-term goals like a home. My fiance on the other hand does not. He does not make very much money and has quite a bit of debt, he claims he cannot open a retirement account yet since he does not make enough and he is 6 years older than I am. He pays high interest on his debt and has no money for investing in our future. I am concerned that we might someday have problems with money, even though we are okay now. However I know once kids enter the picture things may change. When I try to talk to him about it things can get heated because he says he is doing everything he can and feels put down when I lecture him about money. I don't have a problem being the main supporter of the family, I just don't want him or us to be in a bad situation down the road. Are there any suggestions to get him to begin investing or any books on this subject?

Investing...? With a $120 to $140K annual income, I do not qualify for a Roth IRA. What are some good options for me, beyond the company 401k, etc., to help plan for retirement? Smug? SMUG? What are you talking about? This is a real question. If all you can do is HATE, go away.
Investing? I have been doing some research, reading books and have as of recently been trying to talk to a couple of professionals in that area. I have set up a six month plan for myself for getting my finances in order, acquiring lending sources and my first property. However, the six month (the month I would sell the property) is December. While I would have an agent to sell the house, I don't think it would be a good idea for my first time to be in Dec. b/c of the holiday season. Can others out there please give me your advice and tell me if you think I should just wait until later months..
Investing...? I have a question for anyone with sound advice to offer. My base income is $128K per year. I participate in my company's 401k savings plan to the tune of 11%. I don't qualify for a Roth IRA. Are there any other Pre-tax vehicles I can take advantage of? It seems that I am in this income area where options are few. I also recently sold a home, and profited by about 100K. The issue here is that unless I am willing to drive for an hour or more to the office and then an hour home in the evenings, I have to buy a new place in an undesirable area, or just rent. Am I headed for disaster by not being in the real estate market? Should I buy something I can afford, even if the neighborhood is iffy? I have zero debt by the way. No credit card debt. I do lease a car, but receive a car allowance from my company that covers the expense. HELP!!!
Investing................? What happens when the reinvesting causes a loss? This could lead to some stockholders second guessing their investment. What would change the way an investment is viewed if interest rates increase, especially the Prime interest rate?

I've researched and i'm not finding any investment firm here that is big name and investing into india for investors... I want to be able to bring the money back into Dollar currency later. What about Taxes? Any and all info is appreciated...thanks

shark investing vs. passive? I am going to begin investing in the stock market. I would consider myself a small investor as I don't have much money. Do you think shark investing is a good idea for me? Has anybody had any luck using this method of investing? This method was created by James "Rev Shark" DePorre. Basically this method involves aggressive investing and preaches against traditional methods of investing like buy and hold. Or, on the other hand, is the traditional more passive method of investing better?

I really want to start up a photography business within the next year to year and a half and was wanting some quick investing tips for getting a jump start on it. I could put about $200-$400 a month away in investments right now. In 6 months that may change with my job (possibly more in about 6 months, raise time :) ). We already invest in a Roth IRA right now. Wanting to invest more for the future. Tips and Tricks greatly appreciated.
Investing a large sum of money in share market - can anyone give advice? I am in my late teens and after a couple years of work I have $50,000 (this to me is big money) banked that I would like to invest. However, I am not sure if investing all of the $50,000 is a good idea - Especially taking into account the recent market volatility. Therefore, should I look to invest all of it? or should I only invest a certain percentage of it?
Investing for the first time? Hi I'm and interested in investing . I've been reading about the "Certificated service" on the Lloyds TSB website, and have a few questions since I'm quite new to it all: >What are costs (apart from buying shares)- it says on the site "Buy or sell online using share certificates for just £27.50". It also says "No account fee and no fuss". What does this mean? Is the £27.50 the cost for starting investing or a regular payment? >What's the biggest loss that I can make? I mean is there any way I can lose the money in my normal bank account (that I haven't invested) or is it that I'll only lose some/all of the money that I had invested? >Is my basic understanding correct, that I purchase shares in a company that I think will do well, and when the price per share has risen, I sell them on for more? Sorry if these questions are a little stupid. I'm only 16 and I want to do something useful with my EMA grant. Thanks! ^_^

Investing Question w/ Stock Market? I am in high school and I currently have saved ~ 7000 dollars. For years, I have had CD accounts with APYs around 4%. I learned in my personal finance class that returns/year in the stock market over the past 70-some years have average 10%/year, which is much better than CDs, especially once I have to renew mine later this year with CD rates in my area below 3%. I was looking at maybe investing some of my money into the stock market, but I am unsure how much I should invest; 5%, 10%, 20%, 50%, etc, I have no idea how much I should aim to invest given the economy's present state. In addition, I don't have a clue which stocks to invest in. What stocks do you predict will have good returns that are better than my CD rate of 4%...and what stocks do you think have a good chance of doing well in the long run, like from now to 2020 or 2030?

Can you make money investing in mutual funds? I have money in a 529 plan and an IRA. I understand those and their tax implications. I don't understand how you make money from investing in mutual funds just normally and the tax implications. If a mutual fund sells something... then you have to pay taxes on it? I am not quite sure how that process works. I know Vanguard has funds, but I'm not sure how investing in them without the tax benefits from the IRA and such can help me. Thank you.
