Do liberals honestly believe that the rich only got that way by hurting the poor?
capitalism is not zero-sum. if it were, why do we have cities, roads, technology, and other enduring testaments to wealth creation?

- all built on the backs of middle class tax dollars....duh!!!
- No, I don't know a single liberal who believes that.
- Out of their ignorance and stupidity (and the affliction of the liberal disorder), this is how they think. http://decenturl.com/associatedcontent/7-reasons-why-minimum-wage
- yes
- When you get the zero-sum theory out of your head, liberalism falls apart.
- It sure seems like a lot of them believe that
- not at all.
- Yes, they do... Unfortunately for them... Liberals have one thing on their mind... Themselves... They could care less what they do to their future generations, they only seem to care about the here and now...
- nope - keep dreamin
- I don't know if they honestly believe it but that theory creates class envy and divides people, making it easy to create an "us" against "them" mentality. People, overall, are richer now than they were 30 years ago. The tide has lifted all boats. (I just read that in "Better Investing" on Friday).
- I don't know of any liberal that has said that - that is the basis of Marxism (and even then does not rely on the concept of a zero sum).
- Nice rant...........
- study how money is made, the substance of it, what is it based on.... it is a difficult concept but once you get it you will see that money is made from the blood, sweat and tears of the poor.. also note that we are one unit of a body called humanity liken it to cells of the body all competing for what?
- Liberals believe the rich got tax breaks, (which made them richer) and the middle class got higher prices. (which made them ......................) Do you have enough brain cells to complete the sentence, Mr Super Capitalist? (And while you are 'thinking', go out and ask people what their lives were like under Liberal Bill Clinton)
- No--liberals do not believe that. The claim that they do is simply neoconservative propaganda. What the right-wing wants you to believe is that ANY criticism of someones methods of acquiring wealth is somehow "anti-capitalist." That is also false--and dangerous. Wealth-when earned by honest and legitimate work and investment--is to be praised. Wealth--when acquired through dishonesty or illegal actions-is not. There are no "blank check" tha texcuse a person from moral responsibility. Murdering wrkers--comonplace before World War 2--is murder, pure and simple. Failing to take reasonalble precautions for worker safety is wrong. Importing poisonous toys--or uying products from foreign companies that use child labor--is wrong. And so on. America is not a fascist country. We are not going to exonerate the wealthy if they have acquired their wealth ilegitimately--no matter how much the right-wing woud like us to do so.
- I'm sure there are SOME that do when nothing could be farther from the truth.
- Assuming that liberals cannot be rich?
- well, then how did J.P Morgan, Rockefellers, Bush, etc made their furtune!!! they all took advantage of the weak and poor!!
- Wow......sorry....u need too play the next table
- No. Why do conservatives think that liberals are so horrible?
- Like Amy...I don't know any liberals who believe that...of course most have made a good living for themselves along with most of my conservative friends.
- Of course they do. They hate wealth (unless THEY have it). If someone else is wealthy, they MUST have gotten it by screwing someone else. It doesn't occur to them that the creation of wealth helps EVERYONE. Love Jack
- The rich ARE hurting the poor. How do you explain Bush's tax cuts for his wealthy buddies--while screwing the working poor and the lower middle class? You're trying to insinuate that everyone has a chance at creating wealth. But the sad fact is, the majority of Americans are NOT wealthy and never will be--no matter how hard they try to aspire themselves. Only a small minority *are*. And even a smaller minority who are the super-rich. And these two groups of Americans do NOT need more of our tax-paying monies so they can get more rich while our own nation's infrastructure (the roads, cities, and technology bases you harp about) continues to deteriorate at a good clip. But of course, you wouldn't understand this.
- Yes I think they do which is sad.
- Of course they do!
- No, the rich usually get rich by inheriting their wealth, just like the poor usually inherit their poverty. The difference-there are a lot of poor, but only a few rich to inherit from.
- Yes they do. Liberals who think this way believe that the rich are evil.
- I was a liberal.I used to think like that. Then the scales fell off my eyes.
