How many Palestinians sold their land to Israel?
In a previous question I have learned that The years immediately following the state's creation in 1948 were difficult for the Israeli economy. The new state possessed no natural or financial resources, no monetary reserves, little economic infrastructure, and few public services. A sizable portion of the existing Arab population fled the new state, while impoverished and afflicted Jewish refugees poured in from the European displaced persons camps and, later, from the Arab countries. In contrast to the 1930s, when Jewish immigrants to the Yishuv (or prestate Israel) had arrived with ample financial and human capital, after 1948 most immigrants lacked the wealth and skills needed by the new state. If a sizable portion of Arabs fled the state, and if Israels economy was basically flat. How did the gov of Israel have the means to buy the land from so many as its been told here? http://countrystudies.us/israel/65.htm Source taken from the U.S Library of Congress. Isadora I am aware that some sold their land before 1948 as you say, and that others after 1948 sold by force. I ask this question because my husbands family sold by force after 1948, and I have always gotton thumbs down because some seem to think that all Palestinians sold their land. Diana: Now , now, remember plz that Israel is a democracy. Cheers! Isadora, its 5:43 am here, My husbands family was forced out! Not sold out by force.....to this day they have the deed and the key to their home. Sorry for the confusion. And you Diana are using an American website where there is Democracy, learn how to be a polite woman. Cheers!

- Very few…. And they were forced to sell…. Many of them were given two options Sell or die. Each city they buy very few meters and they Steal hectares. I challenge any Israelis to bring a genuine land purchase contract for any of the current settlements. Not only the settlements, in any Israeli city, And who sold them the mosques and churches and schools which they made it pigsty and cow house .
- Many hopeless not all of them but many Hope , personally I know some families who did that by their own will and currently live in Egypt or Jordan from before 1948 as kings , you can discuss this issue on my IM , as I may hurt someone on discussing it here! After the year 1948 they started to sell their lands by force! Will you participate in my latest question, pls? Edit: Some sold by force and some forced out after the year of 1948, sorry for your husband's family , you don't deserve this Hope. :( I respect in you struggling for your rights of survival , send my respects and supports to your husband's family!
- It was usually the absent Arab landlords who actually sold the land, often right out from under the feet of the Palestinian Arabs. Then again, you seem to be forgetting that much of Palestine was dedicated to creating a Palestinian Arab state. You might recognise the name: JORDAN.
- Not many, but those who did they did not sale it to create a new state for the Jews. Most were land lords from countries like Lebanon or Syria or Turkey. The small land owners did not sale their lands.
- who cares? it's ancient history. do the palestinians think they are the only people in history to have been forced to move? whether it was the arab governments that made them leave (the vast majority) or the new israelis (very few), they left, it was a long time ago, how about if we move on. jewish people have been kicked out of their homelands all over the world. personally, it would be great if Hungary awarded me some land and money because my father's family was forced out of the country. but instead of whining about it, he moved to the states, studied, and created a new life for himself. it's time for the "palesinians" to stop complaining about ancient history and move on. and it's time for the other arabs to help them, the way that israel helps displaced jews without whining about it.
- Hey Hopeless, do you have access to a library? I think you'd get much better information if you spent a day conducting reputable research. There's only so much you can get online, especially from the sites people here cite! Good luck!
- There were no Palestinians before the 1960s. There were Jews and Arabs. The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism. - Zahir Muhsein, 1977
