Are you financially independent? Is financial freedom all that you expected?
Do you still go to work even though you don't have to? Does the money make you happy? Do you wish you had worked less when younger, and had more fun, even if it would have required you to have kept on working now?

- No, I don't go to work anymore, did not like my career even though it allowed me to retire at age 51. I wish I had followed by heart and changed careers when I was younger and found something I enjoyed. Money is not everything and life is short.
- Yes I am. And it is pretty much all I expected. From the moment I wake up, to the moment I go to bed, I do exactly what I want all day long, and I love it. I write poetry, go to the gym, to the library, to various classes, I travel a lot, get my nails done, see my friends, go to the cinema, see my kids, spend lots of time with my family, read a lot, go to art exhibitions, walk about 10000 steps a day with my trusty pedometer (never driven a car in my life) dye my hair pink, and waste time on Yahoo Answers. The only gold I own is my wedding ring. I may not look like you think a multi-millionnaire ought to look, but I'm more interested in pleasing myself than impressing anyone. It's not the money that makes me happy, it's the freedom. I did have fun when I was younger - working hard can be fun.
- No Im not financially independent by any means. Yes I occasionally still dream about maybe one day being so. However, I suspect if it happens, it will come at a very heavy price, and that is I'll vegetate! Youve heard of folk who get it all and 'lose the will to live'. Being poor means I keep my edge -I have to use my wits to make ends meet; I have to stay fit to push those bicycle pedals around instead of sit idly behind a car wheel. Really wealthy people often dont have to think for themselves anymore, because they dont need to -they can pay somebody else to do all their work for them. Its that sort of staleness that I think would get hold of me if I were ever to become wealthy. Its a nice thought, yes, but I just dont fancy the thought of becoming 'rich but fat, lazy, and dull-witted'.
